Regine Debatty
(blogger, writer for mags, curator; we-make-money-not-art.com, Germany)

Regine Debatty (BE/DE) studied Classics in Belgium and England, worked as a teacher of Latin and ancient Greek, then moved to media, working as a documentary director for the Belgian national TV, as a reporter for the radio Onda Cero in Spain then as a consultant for the MEDIA programme of the European Commission in Italy.

She's now a blogger, a new media art curator and she writes about the intersection between art, design and technology on we-make-money-not-art.com as well as on design and art magazines. She regularly speaks at conferences and festivals about artists, hackers and interaction designers (mis)use of technology.

Talk abstract:

When artists and designers mess around with technology.

The topic will look at how artists today are exploring electronics, digital bits and even the so-called emerging technologies such as biotechnology or nanotechnology; and eventually ask and try to answer the question Why should their antics really matter to us?
