Talk abstract:
Provisional title
Virtualization of design expression - showing beauty in interaction.
Today a large number of products are part of the digital world - even if they are physical products, and many have software components that give them their real purpose and value. Often these products serve a wide variety of purposes for people. Changes in technology and new ideas, are enabling new interaction models giving 'the virtual' a sense of reality and persistence, and allowing a new expression of purpose and function through design. More importantly, beauty is often found IN the interaction - in the 'using', almost more so than in static impressions. This is leading to new product design challenges and opportunities. Delivering truly great interaction design, especially for convergent hardware-software products, requires a lot of attention to detail and hard work. Are we designing parts of a product experience, but not looking enough at the details of the interaction in between key moments of usage?
